History: The Aruban florin (ƒ) is the currency of Aruba. It is used only on the territory of this country. It is denoted as AWG and contains 100 cents.The florin came into circulation in 1986. At that time, the government gained independence from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Before that, there was the Antillean guilder used on the island.
