Rewards system in a nutshell
There are several tiers for earning miles with the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard. Besides the 50,000 bonus miles offered within the first 90 days if all criteria are met, you can earn 5 miles per dollar for eligible purchases on flyfrontier.com. In addition, 3 miles per dollar are earned on restaurant purchases and 1 mile per dollar on all other purchases. Lastly, as a myFrontier member, you will earn additional miles for purchases made with partner companies. Categories of partner companies include transportation, hotels, shopping and services, and Frontier Cruises.
Currently, there are only two options for redeeming miles earned, and they are for flights on Frontier Airlines or through the Mags for Miles partner that provides magazine subscriptions. There is no cash redemption option available at this time.
When redeeming miles for award travel, there are three award levels available. These levels show the miles needed to book a particular flight, but busy travel times may require more miles. However there are no blackout dates, so you can feel safe using miles for flights anytime you want.
The three levels are:
- Value Award – These tickets start at 10,000 miles for one-way travel, plus taxes and fees.
- Standard Award – This reward offers more availability of flights than the Value Award, and these tickets start at 20,000 miles for one-way travel, plus taxes and fees.
- Last Seat Award – This reward allows booking on any flight that still has an available seat. These tickets start at 22,500 miles for one-way travel, plus taxes and fees. This reward requires Elite status eligibility to use.
For cardholders interested in flying with Frontier Airlines, it’s easy to earn and redeem the rewards offered by this card.
Are there any other benefits?
There are a few nice extra benefits that come with using Frontier Airlines World Mastercard, and they are:
- No blackout dates – Redeem miles for rewards without the inconvenience of scheduling around blackout dates.
- Priority boarding – Cardmembers receive priority and «ZONE 2» boarding when they’re logged into their Program Membership Account while booking their flight.
- No fee award redemption – Cardholders don’t pay a fee when redeeming awards.
- Multiple card designs – Choose from 5 card designs, made from 85% recycled material, and highlighting the stories of certain endangered species.
- $0 fraud liability – If your card is lost or stolen, you’re not held responsible for unauthorized charges.
- Online FICO score access – Have ongoing access to your credit score and get alerts when that score changes when you sign in to your card’s account portal.
- Account Pooling. Frontier Airlines World Mastercard cardholders may consolidate multiple related parties’ miles to increase reward redemption opportunities. One cardholder and up to 8 pool friends and family members may combine miles.
Conclusion
The Frontier Airlines World Mastercard is a great card for anyone wishing to travel with Frontier and/or consolidate their credit debt using this card’s promotional introductory balance transfer rate. The annual fee isn’t ideal, but the reward earning and redemption potential may be worth it.
There is one downside to the rewards redemption for this card that may be a significant hurdle for some potential cardholders, and that comes from Frontier’s limited destination network compared to other carriers. Although the airline flies to many destinations domestically (including Puerto Rico), to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica, some of these flights may require connections to facilitate.
