U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature®: pros and cons

Pros: Cons:
No annual fee. The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® charges a $0 annual fee. So, you won’t have to justify the annual fee. High variable purchase APR. A 18.24% - 29.24% purchase APR is relatively high which can be a drawback for potential cardholders.

U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature®: rewards system in a nutshell

The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® credit card will bring you the biggest rewards if you spend a good chunk of your budget on dining, groceries, and at gas stations (including EV charging stations). You can earn 4X points on dining, restaurant delivery, or takeouts, 2X points at grocery stores (including delivery), gas stations (including EV charging stations), and streaming services, and 1X points on all other eligible purchases. U.S. Bank points value is 1 point per 1 cent.

There are a few ways you can redeem the rewards. You can do it on the official U.S. Bank website (by logging into your personal banking account), in the U.S. Bank mobile app, or by calling the rewards center that is working 24/7. The minimal redemption amount for cash back or gift cards is 2,500 points which equal $25. So, after spending $625 on dining, dining, restaurant delivery, and take-outs - you will receive 2,500 points. Spend $375 more within 90 days after account opening and receive extra 20,000 points as a sign-up bonus!

Who can benefit from getting the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® credit card?

The U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® credit card doesn’t have an annual fee which means you will not have to adjust the annual payments. High rewards provided by the card are very unusual for the $0 annual fee credit cards. Foodies will get the biggest possible benefits since you can get 4X points on dining, restaurant delivery, and takeouts, and 2X points on grocery, and grocery delivery.

The card charges no foreign transaction fee which makes it a nice option for international travelers. Also, if you are watching Netflix, HBO Max, or any other streaming service - this credit card may also give you an extra profit. Get a $15 statement credit on streaming on it after 11 months of the subscription.

That is a very nice credit card for everyday spending. High rewards cover categories that you spend money on almost every day. However, the rewards for groceries are a little bit above average. So, if you are not spending much at restaurants or not eating out at all but rather choosing to cook at home - maybe some other options with better rewards for grocery stores would be preferable for you.

For example, the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express offers a 6% cash back at U.S. supermarkets.

But there are 2 pitfalls to be mentioned: it has a cash back limit cap of $6,000 per year and a $95 annual fee which means you will have to cover your annual payment with rewards.

  • U.S. Bank mobile app. The U.S. Bank has a very convenient mobile app for its customers where you can check your U.S. Bank credit card balance and rewards, make payments, redeem rewards, and many more.
  • Rewards Center Earn Mall access. You can make online purchases from Earn Mall at the Rewards Center with more than 1,100 stores over there and earn extra points that can be redeemed in the future.
  • No expiration date for the accumulated points. The accumulated points will never expire and you can redeem and spend them whenever you want.
  • Earn as many reward points as you can. There is no points cap, so you can earn as many points as possible.

Conclusion

In our opinion, the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® credit card is a great card that covers a lot of everyday spending categories like restaurants, groceries, and gas stations. You won’t have to justify the annual fee since the credit card doesn’t have one. A sign-up bonus is a very nice addition to the rewards. Travelers will also appreciate a no foreign transaction fee. Despite its relatively high APR, the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® provides some features that can offset this drawback: pay over time option, and intro APR period.

To utilize all these perks you need to have an excellent credit score which might become a barrier for many. Of course, if you are a home cook or just don’t spend much money on restaurants and take-outs - there are better options for you. At the same time, if you have an excellent credit score, and sometimes dine out or order a delivery - we would recommend you consider the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® as one of your everyday spending credit cards.
